Glasgow Street: allow for the road layout, not a straight-line shortcut
The Avalon review proposes two pinch points on Glasgow Street, with opposite yielding directions, between Clarence Avenue, Mendel Crescent and MacEachern Avenue. It treats these as a response to shortcutting and speed, rather than additional driving lanes.

A vehicle-shopping plan for Avalon
If Glasgow Street forms part of your own route, a vehicle comparison should allow for the current marked layout and room to pass lawfully. Check the vehicle's usable width with mirrors and how well you can judge its corners while parked. A map route that looks direct is not a promise of uninterrupted travel.
- Locate the current approach and any posted yielding arrangement before a visit.
- Include mirror width when measuring your own garage or parking entrance.
- Compare low-speed steering feel in a suitable dealership area, not by squeezing past an oncoming vehicle.
Compare the vehicle and your own costs
